Hyunjung Kim

Violin

Hyun Jung Kim, a talented violinist hailing from South Korea, started her musical journey at the age of five. Her unwavering commitment to the artistry of the violin is palpable in both her academic and musical endeavors. Commencing her studies at Ewha Womans University in South Korea, she obtained her Bachelor of Music degree, laying the groundwork for her profound love for violin. After graduation, she focused on her teaching and performing career. Later, she went on to achieve her Master of Music degree at the University of Texas in Austin where she studied with Sandy Yamamoto.

She is currently furthering her expertise and honing her abilities through doctoral studies at the University of North Texas, supported by a full scholarship under the mentorship of Professor Julia Bushkova. Moreover, she serves as a Teaching Assistant while also holding the position of violinist in the Bancroft Quartet, showcasing her talents in chamber music performance. Previously, she was a member of the Marie A. Moore Piano Trio, where she further developed her chamber music skills. Additionally, she nurtures a deep fascination for Early Music and Baroque violin, and actively engages in the Baroque Orchestra at UNT, expanding her musical horizons.
